The Live-On Project

                              Where to Begin

The secret to getting ahead is getting started.
                                  -Mark Twain

            T
he best way to begin is to begin. I wish I had
more eloquent words, but it is true that action
creates more action. Taking steps to write a few

sentences will push you forward to write even more.
Get something on paper. Choose a topic you know
about to start the writing process and create the
momentum. Connect with a powerful emotion: the first
time you met your spouse, first day of college, your
wedding day, the day you had a baby--whatever brings
up some type of emotion. Don't worry about how you
will present the letter to your child. Just write to start
the creative juices flowing, knowing you can always edit,
            or add more, later.

In creating this workbook, I chose to provide too much
rather than too little. You may want to focus on the first
section of “major milestones” only. You may want to
write only one letter in total, or you may want to delve
into as many letters as possible. Do not feel compelled
to follow my every last instruction. I am here to give
you ideas, inspiration, motivation and guide you along.
Write long letters, short notes, mix videos and words, or
leave only quotes. It is all up to you!
