The Live-On Project

Brad establishes a lifelong connection to
            his children:

Monica and Brad are parents of a newborn named
Christie. They are considered older parents as the other
parents of newborns are at least a decade younger.

Now that they have a baby, they feel especially
vulnerable. They are concerned about something
happening to them every day. They also feel sorry for
their baby girl who may not have her parents around as
long as others do. Still, they enjoy their lives.

Unfortunately, around Christie’s 10th birthday, Brad is
diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and dies 4 months
later. It all happens so quickly. Monica feels an

overwhelming burden of raising a daughter alone and
she feels crippling pain over the loss of her husband. As
the years pass, Christie feels scared, angry and resentful
towards her mom and also her late dad. She doesn't
pay attention in school and starts hanging with the
wrong crowd which includes older boys. Monica wishes

she could have help deciding what is best or advising
her daughter about her friend choices. She longs for
Brad’s influence in her daughter’s life.

                   But what if…

Monica and Brad wrote letters together to Christie and

each even wrote their own letter. At the first sign that
something was going wrong with Christie, Monica gave
